Why We Are Building Apta?
The 10,000 Kilometer Gap
Apta wasn't born in a boardroom; it was born from the "3 AM anxiety" that every member of the Indian diaspora knows too well.
It’s that sudden, cold realization that while you are building a life in Australia, the US, or the UK, your parents are aging 10,000 kilometers away.
The Problem with "Checking In"
As a Senior Product Manager at Atlassian, I spend my days building world-class technology.
Yet, when it came to my own parents’ health in India, I found myself relying on patchy WhatsApp calls and "everything is fine" reassurances that I knew weren't the full story.
I realized that while we have the hardware - Apple Watches, Samsung Health, and smart rings - the technical "bridge" to share that data across borders was broken.
Building the Digital Guardian
We built Apta to be that bridge.
-
The Name: In Sanskrit, Apta means a "Trusted Relative" - someone who is always there, even when they aren't physically present.
-
The Mission: To transform passive health data into an active guardian. We’ve engineered a way to bypass regional tech locks, ensuring that a heart rate spike or a fall in Mumbai triggers a "Scream" alert on your phone in Melbourne - instantly.
Trust as Our Foundation
We know that health data is the most intimate information a family owns. That’s why Apta is built from the ground up to be 100% compliant with India’s DPDP Act, storing every record in secure, encrypted Indian vaults. We operate on a Consent-First model because we believe that technology should empower parents, not just track them.
